Our Story
Haus of Shizu – A Mountain Home in Kasar Devi
Haus of Shizu is not just another cafe or BnB in Kasar Devi – it’s a lived-in mountain home in Almora that slowly turned into a warm, welcoming space for travellers, artists, remote workers, and old-school mountain lovers. Named after our dog Shizuka, Haus of Shizu sits on the peaceful Kasar Devi ridge, a short drive from Almora town. Here, mornings start with golden Himalayan light and evenings end with conversations around a warm cup of chai or coffee.
This place began as a dream shared by three travellers – Hritvik, Saurab and Suyash – who met at a hostel in Kasar Devi in September 2024. Strangers at first, we connected over the same feeling: “What if we could build a small mountain home where people come as guests and leave as friends?” That hostel conversation became a plan, the plan became work, and the work became Haus of Shizu – a dream cafe and BnB shaped by many bus rides, late-night ideas, and a lot of faith in this magical valley.
